To say it’s been busy at HORAGE recently would be a slight understatement. Just hours after the announcement of our new K3 calibre we’re doing it again!
Maybe we should slow down…..maybe….

The DecaFlux has been developed in parallel with the completely new K3 movement, both are made in Biel/Bienne, the city that is the home to Swiss watchmaking.
K3EP it simple stupid! It sometimes feels like the world is spinning faster and faster. More tech, more performance, more features. More of everything, NOW! Is greater complexity the answer to every question? Simplicity lies at the heart of the DecaFlux platform. We believe in democratizing the joy of owning a mechanical watch. In a time of unprecedented global uncertainty, enabling a more accessible timepiece is the right thing to do. Don’t equate simplicity with lower performance: DecaFlux features our in-house K3 calibre with full silicon technology and COSC certified accuracy of -4 /+6 seconds per day.

Deja-vu? Eagle eyed watch fans will undoubtedly notice that the DecaFlux bears some visual similarities with a more famous Swiss timepiece. This is not an accidental slip-up: our DecaFlux knowingly takes certain design cues from the renowned but discontinued Rolex Milgauss. HORAGE is a company built on transparency: we are not planning hide this. Should we be embarrassed about it? No! The Milgauss is an iconic and revered timepiece for very good reasons. Can we build on this fascinating story and give it a 21st century HORAGE twist? You bet!

Secrets of the universe
Not so far from our Biel/Bienne HQ, scientists are working to understand our universe at atomic level. The wild looking machines at the CERN complex generate huge magnetic fields. Such energy has a detrimental effect on the workings of mechanical movements. Back in the 1950’s the only solution was to build a faraday cage inside the case. A tool watch created for the specific demands of particle physicists: the ultimate niche product which over time developed a cult status.

The time is ripe
A spark of an idea came some three years ago. The design briefing wasn’t just based on aesthetics – our new baby needed a modern, anti-magnetic solution. Building additional layers of permeable (magnetically conductive) steel into the case is sooo last century.
Why all the effort, when most of us will never get up close to a Large Hadron Collider?
We live in the digital age, surrounded by appliances containing motors and magnets. Every one of them can diminish the performance of your watch.

Squaring the circle?
The way forward was quite clear and with some irony, already embedded deep inside those pesky electronic gadgets. Magnets help create energy, but this power requires controlling via integrated circuits. They all use one very special material: silicon.

Si2 inside
Silicon semi-conductors have transformed our world at breath taking speed. But using this material in mechanical watches has never been easy. Until now only certain brands within the remit of their powerful umbrella owners had access to these materials. HORAGE has always been convinced that silicon offers clear and undisputed technical benefits to the watchmaker. You can read more about these in our K3 forum post here
The design
K3EP it simple! The DecaFlux is available in just two iterations, both offer a subtle twist to its classic and uncluttered style. Constructed from 316LMo stainless steel the 40mm case frames a dial, available in either polished black protected by sapphire coated with 5 layers of red tinted AR, or Sunray Blue with a sapphire with 5 layers of blue tinted AR coating. The hint of red or blue in the AR layers nods towards the colours that are synonymous with magnetic fields, whilst visually adding depth and complexity. The dark dial tones contrast beautifully against the bright, sharp lines of the diamond cut hands. Both hour and minute hands as well as the minute indices are finished in rhodium and filled with Superluminova (SLN W2 GL) for effortless legibility night or day.

Lastly, the red-blue lightning bolt shaped seconds hand throws in a bright dash of colour to remind the wearer that no matter where they are located, the omnipresent and invisible flux of positive and negative charged ions surrounding them cannot warp the time displayed by their DecaFlux.
Case & Crown Material: 1.4435 (316LMo) Stainless Steel Case Dimensions: 40mm x 9.98mm Lug to Lug 46mm Dial: Black Polished or Blue Sunray Bracelet: Stainless Steel 3 Link with HMAC clasp with 10mm of adjustment Hands: Diamond Cut Hour and Minutes Hands, Rhodium Silver with SLN W2 GL Superluminova (White in Daytime and Green Lume in Dark).
